Description
Lynette Yiadom-Boakye is a British painter and writer of Ghanaian heritage. She is best known for her portraits of imaginary subjects, or ones derived from found objects, which are painted in muted colours. Taking inspiration from the techniques of historic European portraiture, her oil paintings could almost be from a much older era if it were not for the contemporary details of the Black subjects that populate her work. This book was published to accompany her first major exhibition at Tate Britain. With essays by Elizabeth Alexander, Andrea Schlieker, Isabell Maidment and Yiadom-Boakye herself. There is some minor damage to the top of the dust jacket.
